In today’s busy life, we often tend to neglect the factors that could work as slow poison on our health. If you ever noticed, there are trends which keep coming in and later fade away like Health Protein Shakes, Energy Pills to name a few. Keeping health into consideration, new products and services keep popping up like lightening. The only issue is whether all of them are really as healthy as the manufacturing companies claim them to be?
The manufacturers bring in famous celebrities as brand ambassadors to advertise and promote their products instead of credible experts. To start up some Health trend in today’s market all a person needs is a good internet connection and smart work on the social media. The result of which we end up in a wide range of health advice which ends up confusing the real consumer about which product is real and which could be a potential spoof.
Let's start off with the worst of promoted health products on the internet.
Activated Charcoal
It’s claimed that it binds all ‘toxins’ and leaves your body ‘cleansed’. The trouble is, charcoal soaks up just about everything indiscriminately. This means that you run the risk of rendering a good portion of the vitamins and minerals in your food utterly useless. Some people may object, that hospitals sometimes use charcoal in cases of poisoning. And it’s true, but in the instance of acute poisoning, nobody is particularly worried if you get that day’s share of your vitamins and nutrients. Keeping you alive and unharmed is the main priority.

Colonic Irrigation
You’ve probably heard about good gut bacteria. They do everything from promoting good digestion, to regulating immunity and, maybe, even mood. When they get out of balance, though, bloating and digestive complaints flare up. Colonic irrigation enthusiasts suggest that the answer is flushing the digestive system from the bottom up, so to speak. But the truth is that you flush out a good portion of the gut lining too, including its friendly inhabitants. You may experience temporary relief but will more than likely find that your symptoms return within days or weeks. The reason is that a new batch of bacteria will find a way to inhabit the gut, and it’s likely the resulting imbalance will be even more severe than earlier. Stick to getting your dietary prebiotics and probiotics instead.
Endless Raw Desserts
If you checked over the social media, you would find some articles claiming that three square desserts a day would keep you healthy. In the beginning, it was a good thing, teaching people how to make healthier alternatives to their favourite treats. But then things got a little out of control. There’s now a whole swarm of fanatics swearing that calories are non-existent, also claiming that as long as something is organic and raw, you could eat as much as you possibly can. A basic American breakfast dessert recipe is calculated to contain over 1,100 calories, 40 grams of sugar, and 80 grams of fat. Well after being able to calculate the calories, you do not need a degree to know that’s not a balanced breakfast.
It's not that everything on the internet is a troll, there is some piece of good advice as well like quitting sugar
This has got to be one of the best diets to hit the mainstream in a while. While some sugar is perfectly fine in the diet one or two pieces of fruit a day isn’t going to hurt too much sends your insulin levels into chaos, and contributes to weight gain, diabetes, and potentially, liver and heart disease too. You could replace sugar with Stevia, it is a sweetener and sugar substitute extracted from the leaves of the plant species Stevia rebaudiana. The active compounds of stevia are steviol glycosides (mainly stevioside and rebaudioside), which have up to 150 times the sweetness of sugar, are heat-stable, pH-stable, and not fermentable. This stevioside has a negligible effect on blood glucose, which makes stevia attractive to people on carbohydrate-controlled diets. Stevia's taste has a slower onset and
longer duration than that of sugar and some of its extracts may have a bitter or licorice-like aftertaste at high concentrations.
Also, Turmeric is considered a naturopaths favourite herb.
Its main benefit is as a gut anti-inflammatory, working along one of the same pathways as over-the-counter medications, but without the side effects.

Kefir, Eastern European drinkable yoghurt.
Not only is it delicious, but it also contains a huge hit of probiotics or ‘good bacteria’. There is evidence that this prebiotic, although not a live culture on its own, may increase levels of bifid bacteria in the gut and the best bit is that for the most part, the lactose intolerant among us can enjoy it too. Well fear not if you don’t get your hands on Kefir, we have our very own Indian product, Yakult which is easily available all over India.
