Private Girls’ Hostels New Hotspots of Sex and Sleaze

Saturday - December 23, 2017 11:34 am , Category : WTN SPECIAL

With a growing population of youngsters reaching big cities from small towns for education and jobs, we have seen girls’ hostels mushrooming as a big business opportunity being cashed in by prudent businessmen. However, in the mad rush to make money, the proprietors of such hostels often fail to make proper checks of the inmates and allow them the liberty which many of them don’t deserve, thanks to the kind of behaviour they display.

There are some mandated checks like police verification etc which every new entrant to the hostel is needed to undergo. But due to the monetary concerns and the hassle of going through the formalities, there are hostel owners who allow many accommodation seekers to skip these checks. This approach unwittingly turns their hostels vulnerable and prone to unsavoury activities, which they may not even know for a long time. People of all kinds and from varied backgrounds flock to the cities in pursuit of their myriad dreams. Many want quick money, while others want quick success. There are still others who want ‘friends’, parties and ‘society’ to kill time. They take these as signs of urban modernity.

Most parents from small towns and villages who send their wards off to the cities for study don’t even know what they are doing in their daily lives. The parents send their hard earned money to their sons and daughters so that they can live a decent life, but these are the youth who blow up the money in smoke to live a life of flamboyance, even at the cost of their self respect, all for transient pleasures of the body. There is no girls’ hostel in town where there is not a gang of boys loitering around. Most of these boys are moneyed, jobless and profligate and spend time on women and nefarious activities. Many hostels, due to lack of proper monitoring, become public spaces, open to visitors and outsiders, who make merry inside the premises, turning the hostels into unofficial brothels. Sometimes the hostel owners even knowingly ignore these developments because of the money.

The police need to be more active and strict in stemming such a social menace. It falls upon the police to check such licentiousness and bring the culprit/s to book. It is lack of police fear that emboldens the louts and vamps. People living around and in the colonies where such suspicious activities are happening must alert the police promptly. Social consciousness is important to make our neighbourhood a better place to live in. Such a move will save precious young lives from falling in the alluring traps. Many of the girls coming to the cities are ignorant of the ways of the world and the glitter and swank attract them beyond they can control.

To save them it is important for the police to regularly monitor the girls’ hostels and see whether or not the owners are abiding by the rules to the T. This will be a big deterrent for antisocial elements making the hostels their legitimate entertainment hubs. A hostel houses many good girls too who come to them to study and the sanctity of the place has to be maintained. - Window To News
