Bihar engineer kidnapped and forced to marriage at gunpoint, kept crying for help during ceremony

In a bizarre incident an engineer Vinod Kumar from Bokaro iron plant forced to marriage at gunpoint after being kidnapped by bride’s family. Incident reported and video became viral on national and international media where groom seen crying for help during ceremony. This kind of force marriage is known as “pakadua vivah”(forced marriage) in Bihar state where reports of crimes like kidnapping, murder and demand of ransom is quite often.

The ceremony video showed that Vinod is crying for help in front of a group of family members of the bride's family. According to local media reports, one of the bride's relatives pointed a pistol at Vinod to force him to marriage.

Incident took place on December 2017, vinod reportedly kidnapped for 'pakadua vivah' (forced marriage) and after getting an unknown call for the same, vinod’s brother Sanjay Kumar informed police.

 Vinod’s brother told to media that Vinod was in Hatia-Patna express from Bokaro to attend a wedding in Patna on 3rd December where bride’s brother convinced him to come to Mokama for important talk. They abducted him at taken to Pandarak where my brother was forced to marry the woman.

Sanjay alleged that weather infoming the police about the incident they refused to help earlier however police denied the allegations. Helpless Sanjay then came to notice whole incident to Patna SSP, Manu Maharaj after that Pandarak police freed Vinod from the placewhere he abucted after the forced marriage.

Statics shows that the police received approx. 3,000 complaints of groom kidnapping for “pakadua vivah”in 2016.  - Window To News
