Role of export is important to make Country an economic power house : Industry Minister Shukla

Shukla Welcomes Decision of Center to give status of industry to logistic hub Meeting of Council for Trade and Development held in New Delhi 

Bhopal: Minister of Commerce and Industry Rajendra Shukla, pointing out at the vital role of export in the development, said that the country can emerge as an economic powerhouse by promoting exports. Shukla was addressing the third meeting of Council for Trade and Development, organized at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi today. Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Suresh Prabhu chaired the meeting. Ministers of Commerce and Industry of other states and senior officers of the state governments attended the meeting.

Industry Minister Shukla reiterated that export is an important aspect of economy. Export in Madhya Pradesh has increased by 17 percent. The export of organic farming has increased by 20 percent. After GST’s implementation, state government has planned to give 20 percent additional benefits to companies of which export exceeded by 25 percent. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had told in the Global Investors' Summit held in 2014 that Madhya Pradesh contributes 40 percent to total exports of the country.

Rajendra Shukla informed that logistic hub is used extensively here because of geographical location of Madhya Pradesh. He demanded to increase logistics sector. Shukla welcomed the decision to give industry status to logistic sector and demanded economic cooperation from the Center in this regard. He said that this will give equal opportunities to people of different industries in the region.

Mentioning about the assistance for International Container Depot in eastern and southern Madhya Pradesh, the Commerce and Industry Minister said that seven inland container departments (ICD) have been developed for export facilities, in the absence of port in Madhya Pradesh. These ICDs are located in West and North of the state. Industries of Rewa, Jabalpur, and other southern areas are deprived of this service. Industry Minister Shukla pointed out the need to open ICDs in eastern and south part of Madhya Pradesh.-Window To News
