Surcharge on Property and Water Tax to be Exempted in National Lok Adalat

Bhopal: In order to dispose of the pending cases of property and water tax, surcharge will be exempted by the State Government through National Lok Adalat. Orders have been issued by the department of Urban Development and Housing in this connection.

National Lok Adalats will be conducted in the state on February 10, April 14, July 14, September 8 and December 8, under the aegis of Madhya Pradesh State Legal Services Authority.

The State Government has issued the order for exemption in property and water tax, which is being collected by the urban bodies under the provisions of Madhya Pradesh Municipal Corporation Act 1956 and 1961. This exemption will not be applicable in those bodies, where election code of conduct is in place.

Exemption

1. Exemption of up to 100 percent will be given only on surcharge in such cases of property tax, in which the sum of the tax and surcharge up to Rs. 50 thousand is outstanding.
2. Exemption of up to 100 percent will be given only on surcharge in such cases of water tax, in which the sum of the tax and surcharge up to Rs. 10 thousand is outstanding.
3. Exemption of up to 50 percent will be given only on surcharge, in such cases of property tax , in which the sum of the tax and surcharge over Rs. 50 thousand to Rs. One lakh is outstanding.
4. Exemption of up to 75 percent will be given only on surcharge in such cases of water tax, in which the sum of the tax and surcharge over Rs. 10 thousand to Rs. 50 thousand is outstanding.
5. Exemption of up to 25 percent will be given only on surcharge, in such cases of property tax, in which the sum of the tax and surcharge over Rs. One lakh is outstanding.
6. Exemption of up to 50 percent will be given only on surcharge in such cases of water tax, in which the sum of the tax and surcharge over Rs. 50 thousand is outstanding.
7. This exemption will be given only once.
8. This exemption is applicable on the outstanding amount till the financial year 2016-17.
9. The amount will be deposited in maximum 2 installments after the exemption, it is mandatory to deposit minimum 50 percent on the day of Lok Adalat.
10. This exemption is valid for the National Lok Adalat to be held in the year 2018 only.-Window To News
