Modi juggernaut forays into North East, Saffron splash across more than 20 states

Saturday - March 3, 2018 2:23 pm , Category : WTN SPECIAL

BJP is on the verge of creating a history by winning in North Eastern state of Tripura as the trends predict. In 2013 Tripura elections, it had not opened its account and in 2018, BJP is getting nearly 2/3 majority and ending 25 years rule of Left , reinforcing BJP’s pan India presence.

BJP- Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party alliance is likely to make government in Nagaland.

Another important pointer in this election is that Congress draws flak not winning a single seat in Tripura and Nagaland and Left routed in North-East India as per the trends.

In Meghalaya, there is a close between Congress and NPP, with Congress emerging as single largest party.

With these two states, BJP and its NDA alliance will now control 21 of the 29 states which includes Arunachal Pradesh, Assam,  Andra Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand,  Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and now in Tripura and Nagaland if the results come out as the trends predict.

Not even the grand old party of India- INC (Congress) has controlled as many states in India. Congress in 1993 was the last time a political party was in control of 18 states. In December 1993, Congress party controlled 15 states out of 26 by itself and one through an alliance. Two others were held by CPI (M), which then provided an outside support to the Congress government at the Centre.

Some big states will head for assembly polls in 2018 and early 2019 - Karnataka, Rajasthan, MP, Chhattisgarh and Mizoram. These would to interesting elections as big states will to certain extent determine the mood of voters in 2019 Lok Sabha Elections.  Karnataka & Mizoram are ruled by Congress and Rajasthan, MP, Chhattisgarh has BJP in power.
