Trauma Units being established at 4 Medical Colleges of State

Rs. 6.6 crore approved for Gajra Raja Medical College of Gwalior 

Bhopal: Trauma units of Level-1 are being established at 4 medical colleges, namely Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur and Gwalior. A proposal has been sent to the union government to upgrade care facility of Medical College Rewa and Sagar into Level-2. These all facilities are being upgraded to Level-1.

Keeping in view the increase in road accidents, all the trauma units are being developed into Level-1 and 2 grades. There are five levels of trauma center and the first level i.e. Level-1 is considered be the best level. Level-1 trauma unit is being established at Gajra Raja Medical college, Gwalior at a cost of Rs. 6.6 crore. Neuro, oral anesthetist and radiologist will be available 24 hours in this unit. Beside this, services like x-ray, ultra-sonography, C.T. Scan, blood gas analyser ventilator, equipments for general surgery and neurosurgery, 24 hours blood bank and ambulance will be available in this unit.

It may be mentioned that 9,314 persons lost their life due to the road accidents occurred during the last year in the state. This loss could have been reduced, if medical facility was provided within the ‘Golden Hours’ i.e. six hours. Golden hours are considered as life saving hours for victims. Trauma units are being established with a motto to provide immediate medical treatment to the road accident victims.-Window To News
