Virology labs to open in state’s medical colleges

Lab building ready in Gandhi Medical College
 

Bhopal: Virology labs will be set up in all medical colleges of the state. The first virology lab is being set up in Gandhi Medical College Bhopal. This lab will be the biggest in the state.

The lab will be equipped with modern test equipments and trained doctors will be available for control on Ebola, Jika, Dengue, Chikungunia and H-1 influenza virus. About Rs 29 crore will be spent on construction of lab and equipments. Test and diagnosis of Hepatitis A, B, C and E, Dengue, Chikungunia, Herpes Simplex virus, Rubella, Toxoplasma Gondii Rotavirus etc. will be possible in the lab. There will be no need to send blood samples outside the state and apart from reduction in costs patients will also get proper treatment. The building of this lab is ready in Gandhi Medical College Bhopal and will begin functioning soon.

In the second phase virology labs will be set up in Gwalior, Indore, Rewa and Sagar. The lab will benefit graduate and post graduate students of Medical college in their academic activities and a database related to new contagion virus will be prepared at the state level which will be useful for research in future.-Window To News
