Designer Nikhat Mariyam Neerushaa ​​Conferred With A Dada Saheb Phalke Award

Nikhat Mariyam Neerushaa who has been doing costumes for films like Jodhaa Akbar and Bajirao Mastani along with epic TV shows like Chandrakanta, Hatim, Razia Sultan, Siya Ke Ram and many others, recently launched her brand 'Neerushaa - The Roots Of India'. Her collection campaign featured TV actresses like Pooja Gor, Kamya Punjabi, Tinaa Dutta, Riddhi Dogra, Richa Sony, Yukti Kapoor, Arshi Khan, Devoleena Bhattacharya and others. 

Nikhat Mariyam Neerushaa decided to start the brand to promote the craftsmanship of the handloom weavers after having met and understood their plea for an year. They're losing their importance due to power loom dominated textile industries being set up. She wanted to provide a direct platform to those weavers who lose their earnings to mediators, who care less for their benefit and indulge in monopoly. For her noble cause, Nikhat Mariyam Neerushaa was awarded with the honorable Dada Saheb Phalke Award titled 'Heritage Indian Textile Reviver' for her selfless contribution towards the revival of Indian textile heritage has been recognized. 

On receiving the Award, she said, "I'm extremely honored and happy that i am receiving this award. Dada Saheb is a very big and a respected name in India. To receive an award named after him is a matter of great recognition. I have earned multiple awards and laurels in the entertainment industry but the category for this award has made me even more happy. I have just started working towards this cause through the brand 'Neerushaa - The Roots Of India' and wish to receive more recognition for the cause as it gives a sense of great achievement.
