Photo exhibition of world’s premier heritage at State Museum on May 18

Bhopal: A photo exhibition focussing on the 'World's Prominent Museums' will be organized in the State Museum on May 18. Commissioner Archaeology Anupam Rajan has said that the exhibition will showcase photographs of historical and archaeological importance of 19 major museums and selected 5 museums in the world.

Major Attractions of the Exhibition: The highlights of the exhibition include priceless material and photographs of Metropolitan Museum of Art, America, Natural History Museum, Washington DC, State Historical Museum, Moscow (Russia), National Museum of Anthropology, Mexico City, Pera Museum of Istanbul, Turkey, Toy Museum of Barcelona (Spain), Guggenheim Museum, Bilbao, Virtual Museum of Rome, Louvre Museum of Paris (France), Uffizi Museum of Florence Italy, Lahore Museum (Pakistan) and similar museums in Greece (Israel), Japan, Germany, Denmark, China, Australia and England.

Photographs of historical documents and ancient heritage of national level museums including Indian Museum, Kolkata, Prince of Wales Museum, Mumbai, National Museum, Delhi, Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya and State Museum, Bhopal will also be available.

Features of the state museum: Specific material of scientific, artistic and historical significance is collected and properly maintained in the State Museum. They are displayed through documents for the common people. It is said that the initial museums were started from private collections by influential persons, families and institutions. These included collection of artefacts and rare natural items which was not easily available for public review. The world’s biggest public museum was established in the 18th century in Europe.

Commissioner Rajan told that such exhibitions were organized mainly to introduce the general public, students and researchers with the rich ancient cultural heritage of various museums.-Window To News
