Tiger from Bandhavgarh and Leopard cub from Badwani reach Van Vihar

Tuesday - June 5, 2018 2:50 am , Category : BHOPAL

Bhopal: A tiger from Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve and a leopard cub from Badwani forest range were brought to Van Vihar National Park, Bhopal. The leopard cub was infected with Parvo infection, which was treated at Van Vihar through tele medicine, which was unique not only in the state but in the country.

Nearly 6-year old tiger has attacked four persons in Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve Umaria along with his brother “Bandhu” in year 2014. The Forest Department team had rescued the tiger brothers and kept them at Baheraha enclosure. One of these tiger cubs “Bandhu” was shifted to Van Vihar in June 2016 and kept at the display enclosure. Van Vihar gave him the name Bandhu after Bandhavgarh. These tigers who were cubs then, had attacked a teacher mistaking him for an animal when the latter had gone out on nature’s call.

Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) Shahbaz Ahmed today collected information about the health, treatment and vigilance on the tiger being kept in quarantine in Van Vihar. Director Smt. Samita Rajoura told that the tiger and leopard cub are in good health.

First leopard cub to be treated by tele-medicine

The leopard cub which reached Van Vihar from Badwani forest range today has been treated through tele-medicine. Dr. Atul Gupta, wildlife doctor of Van Vihar, treated this leopard.
