Khaini to be listed in ‘food product’ to ban it in Bihar

JUNE 09 (WTN) - As you know, drinking liquor in the state of Bihar is illegal. It is reported that after liquor, Khaini will also be banned in Bihar. According to the information, the health department of Bihar government has prepared a proposal to ban Khaini as harmful to health, just like gutkha and pan masala.

According to the information, this proposal is being sent to the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India. In this proposal it has been proposed that Khaini should be listed in food products so it’s purchasing, selling and eating could be banned. It is believed that alcohol has been banned as an attempt to get Bihar intoxication free, and now there is a proposal to ban Khaini. Because Khaini is not eatable with any food item.

It is believed that eating Khaini contains diseases like cancer and ulcer. Therefore, the proposal is being sent to the government of India to stop it’s purchasing, selling and eating. In Bihar, Gutkha has been banned since year 2014 and its effect has been very good. The food safety laws rule will be followed to prohibit Khaini, which states that there should not be any quantity of tobacco and nicotine in any food item.

Banning alcohol had a lot of resistance in Bihar but women in Bihar had a great deal of support. It is being believed that Nitish Kumar will have to suffer a significant political loss by putting a ban on Khaini. According to the information, the number of people eating khaini is more than those who drink alcohol, if Nitish Kumar decides to ban Khaini then people's anger against him is natural. But the decision of the Bihar government should be welcomed, because eating Khaini causes cancer.
