Loneliness doubles the risk of death: research

Monday - June 11, 2018 6:04 pm , Category : HEALTH

June 11 (WTN) - A new research has shown that the feeling of loneliness is more dangerous than being alone and those who feel lonely, they have poor mental health, are more chances of heart diseases and they die faster than those who do not live alone.

The researches show that loneliness is related to the double risk of death in both men and women. Men and women who feel lonely are likely to have three times more anxiety and symptoms of depression than those who do not feel lonely and their quality level of life is very low.

A student of the Copenhagen University Hospital's doctorate, said, "Loneliness predicts premature death, poor mental health and low quality life among patients with heart related diseases and those living alone."

This research was presented in Annual Nursing Congress EuroHeartCare 2018. In this research, 13 thousand 463 patients were included and through research, it was tried to know whether the bad social network is related to the worse results of these patients. These patients had Ischemic heart disease, Arrhythmia, Heart failure and Heart valve disease. It was found that despite their heart diseases, their feeling of loneliness was linked to their poor results.
