Thursday - June 14, 2018 2:39 pm , Category : WTN SPECIAL

Time for BJP to prove its strategy

JUNE 14 (WTN) - The term of Rajya Sabha deputy chairman P.J.Kurien will end on June 30. In such a situation, the exercise has begun for the election of the deputy speaker. In the Rajya Sabha, in the deputy chairman election, the BJP will have to face a ‘joint opposition’. If the whole opposition is united, then BJP may have to face defeat. Let you know that BJP has the highest number of MPs in the Rajya Sabha. But It is believed that a non-BJP or non-Congress member would be the deputy chairman of the Rajya Sabha.

Let’s first talk about BJP, BJP has the maximum members in Rajya Sabha, but BJP is not in a position with its colleagues that any BJP member could win the election of deputy chairman. Now we discuss about Congress, after the BJP in the Rajya Sabha, the Congress is at second position in number of members. But the Congress is also not in a position to get victory for its member in the deputy chairman election. It is believed that the member of the Trinamool Congress or any other regional party can get an opportunity to become deputy speaker.

In this way, it can be said that the BJP and the Congress are not in a position to make their own member as deputy chairman in the Rajya Sabha election. In such a situation, both parties would like to have a strategy to elect their nearest as Rajya Sabha deputy speaker. There are currently 241 MPs in the Rajya Sabha. When all the members vote, then in that situation, 121 votes need to win the deputy chairman election. The BJP and its allies have a total of 106 votes, here the Congress coalition have 86 votes. So in this In circumstance, the importance of regional parties increases.

There are 13 members of TMC in the Rajya Sabha, 3 members of Aam Aadmi Party, 6 members of TDP, 6 members of CPM and one member of INLD. It is believed that this ‘group’ can also be supported by an Independent; in resulting there will be total 30 votes. That is, if this group is united and meets the Congress coalition, but there is no victory for them. In this way the role of the other parties is going to be increased. Among them, BJD has 9, YSR Congress 2 and TRS 6 votes. These parties’ votes will play an important role in deputy chairman election.

Along with the allies and the independents, the BJP seems to be getting only 108 votes. It may be possible that the BJP can play a key role to let its partner to become a deputy speaker. It is believed that the BJP can ask the Shiv Sena to contest its candidate for the post of deputy speaker. If Shiv Sena contests the Marathi-speaking member in the election of the deputy speaker then the NCP may also support the Shiv Sena candidate.
