Cities of state to be revamped in a year – Urban Development Minister Smt. Singh

New layout of urban development to be prepared through TOD and TDR 

Bhopal: Urban Development and Housing Minister Smt. Maya Singh said that the implementation of T.O.D and T.D.R. in the state will help in writing a new chapter of development of the cities of the state by the year 2019. She said that the participation of the general public along with the local organizations is essential in urban planning. Smt. Maya Singh was addressing the inaugural ceremony of the national convention on “Next phase of urban planning in Madhya Pradesh” organized at the Academy of Administration today. Chairman of Madhya Pradesh Housing and Infrastructure Development Board Krishnamurari Moghe presided over.

Smt. Singh said that the need of the hour is to create a modern form while retaining the historic and archaeological form of the urban areas. Madhya Pradesh government is making efforts with this thinking. Farfetched planning of the development of cities with one lakh and more than 10 lakh population will be made. She said that keeping in mind the important issues like increasing pressure of traffic, environmental balance and population pressure, the Department of Urban Development and Housing has created a new form of the Transfer of Development Rights (TDR) and Transit Oriented Development (TOD). To make this more effective, suggestions have been invited from experts and public representatives through the convention.

Housing Board Chairman Moghe said that the planning of development of the cities would be made keeping the future needs in mind. He said that the participation and inter-departmental coordination of all sections is must in this planning.

Principal Secretary Vivek Agarwal told that urban planning in Madhya Pradesh has a rich past, the living example of which is Bhopal city which is known for its beauty. He said that this convention has been organized for better planning of other cities. The conclusions of this convention will be included in future planning.

Among those who took part in the convention were Commissioner Urban Administration Gulshan Bamra, subject experts from Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu and other states, Mayors of various Municipal Corporations, Chairpersons of development agencies and officials. Director, Town and Country Planning Rahul Jain expressed gratitude towards the guests at the convention.-Window To News
