India's big diplomatic 'defeat', China gives Nepal permission to 'use' its ports

Saturday - September 8, 2018 12:46 pm , Category : WTN SPECIAL

China's strategy to keep India alone in South Asia

SEP 08 (WTN) - India has faced its discretionary foreign policy once again. Once Nepal was one of India's closest countries, now that China is so close, China has now allowed Nepal to use its harbor. For your information, let you know that Nepal is currently dependent on India for import of essential commodities and fuel. Nepal uses ports of India to do business from other countries.

China tries its best under its expanding policy so that India can be encircled in any way. After Pakistan, now Nepal is at China’s target. In order to isolate India, China has given a lot of flexibility to Nepal and has made a major move towards its side.

In an attempt to remove Nepal’s relations with India, China will allow Nepal to use its four ports. There is a clear indication of this move by China that they want to end the ancient relations of India and Nepal and want to increase its infiltration in politics and trade there.

Consider this whole episode; Nepal has its own strategy and compulsion behind it. Nepal is a land locked country so does not have any harbor due to which it has to depend much on India for imports of other goods including fuel. In 2015 and 2016, India had stopped supplying oil to Nepal for several months, due to that reason; tension had increased in the relations between India and Nepal.

In future, no such problem has to be faced; Nepal has taken the decision to give priority to the ports of China while reducing dependence on Indian ports. Under the agreement between China and Nepal, Nepal will be able to use Shenzhen, Lianyungang, Jiangxi and Tianjin port of China.

For your information, let you know that the Tianjin port is the nearest port to Nepal border, which is approximately 3,300 km from Nepal. Not only that, China has also given permission to Nepal to use Lanzhou, Lhasa and Shigatsu dry ports.

Nepal wanted to reduce dependence on Indian ports gradually, which China has taken advantage of. Both Nepal and China have the advantage of this agreement. Under the agreement, Chinese officials will give permits to trucks going to Nepal carrying goods via Shigatsu in Tibet.

China has once again been successful in encompassing India. China has been working under the same strategy as the plan that surrounded India through Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Sri Lanka and Maldives. Under which China has trapped all these countries in debt.

It is being said that China is working on a huge strategy to gradually end India's trade relations with the neighboring countries.  If India does not pay attention to its foreign policy during the time, then India will be alone in South Asia and India will have huge financial loss.

The government of India needs to make significant changes in its foreign policy. The nearest port to Nepal is Calcutta, which is 774 kilometers, but Nepal has preferred the Tianjin port of China instead of Kolkata, which is about 3,300 km from Nepal. Nepal is not financially so powerful that it can afford four times the distance expenses.  It is clear that China is helping. Slowly, China is succeeding in its strategy, and after Pakistan, Nepal will soon become its 'colony'.
