Meeting of Nodal Officers of departments held
Bhopal: The Chief Electoral Officer V.L. Kanta Rao in a meeting of the Nodal Officers of the Departments gave instructions that they should ensure compliance of Model Code of Conduct strictly. Duties entrusted to them should be discharged with utmost seriousness and responsibility.
Rao also gave instructions regarding announcement of holiday on the day of voting, arrangement of officers to appoint them as preshaks in other states, for preparation of police deployment plan for election by the home department, demand for central forces, to ensure barricading by holding meeting and coordinating with the officers of the bordering states, timely report of law and order and information required by the commission on daily basis.
Moreover, Rao gave instructions to the Commercial Tax department to impose ban on sale of liquor on the day of election and voting, the Higher Education and School Education departments have been told to make available the services of professors/teachers as required for election by the District Election Officers and to provide essential minimum facilities in polling booths established in schools and colleges. Similarly, he gave directives to the Food and Civil Services department to ensure availability of petrol and diesel till the end of the election process.
The Labour department has been entrusted with responsibility to declare holiday on the day of voting and to hold meeting with Labour Commissioners of the bordering states, the Public Works department has been told to ensure repair of roads connecting polling centres and to strengthen strong room and treasury. The Public Health Engineering department has been instructed to ensure drinking water in the polling centres on the day of election, the Energy department has been told to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply on the day of voting. Similarly, the Revenue department has been instructed for ensuring printing of election related forms, envelopes and books, works connected to postal ballots and the Law and Legal department has been entrusted with the responsibility to entrust zonal officers and sector magistrate with the powers of executive magistrate.
The Additional Chief Electoral Officer Sandeep Yadav, Deputy Chief Electoral Officers Rakesh Kushra and Rajesh Shrivastva were present in the meeting.-Window To News
