BJP gets 8 percent more vote in last assembly elections

OCT 15 (WTN) - In Madhya Pradesh, voting is going to be held on 28th of November. Like the last election, this time too, the main contest is between the BJP and the Congress. The BJP has won in three consecutive assembly elections; the Congress has been facing a major defeat for the last 15 years. Let us tell you how many percent votes the BJP and Congress got in the last five assembly elections and on bases of this vote percent, how many seats these two parties could win.

Madhya Pradesh was united with Chhattisgarh during the 1993 Assembly elections. At that time, there were total 230 seats in the assembly in the Madhya Pradesh. In this election the BJP contested in all 320 seats and had got 38.82 percent of the votes and managed to win 117 seats. At the same time, Congress contested in 318 seats and got 40.67 percent votes and was successful in winning 174 seats.

Even during the 1998 assembly elections, there was no division of Madhya Pradesh state and there were a total of 320 seats in the assembly. In this election, BJP contested in all 320 seats and secured 39.28 percent votes, on which it managed to win 119 seats. At the same time Congress contested in 316 seats and had succeeded in winning 172 seats with 40.59 percent votes.

During the 2003 assembly elections, the state of Madhya Pradesh was partitioned and Chhattisgarh became a new state. In Madhya Pradesh, after the division, only 230 seats were left in the assembly. In the assembly elections of 2003, the BJP contested in all 230 seats and secured 42.50 percent of the votes and won 173 seats. The Congress had to face defeat badly in this election. In the 2003 assembly elections, the Congress contested in 229 seats and got 31.61 percent of the votes and it managed to win just 38 seats.

In the 2008 assembly elections, the BJP contested in 228 seats. In this election, BJP got 37.64 percent of the votes and BJP managed to win 143 seats. At the same time Congress contested in 228 seats and got only 32.39 percent votes, on bases of this vote percent, Congress could win only 71 seats.

In the last assembly elections that took place in 2013, the BJP had contested in all the 230 seats and got 44.88 percent votes, the BJP managed to win 165 seats in this election. In this election, Congress contested in 229 seats and got 36.38 percent of the votes and it could win only 58 seats.
