Three people of Chhattisgarh got the privilege of becoming Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh

OCT 24 (WTN) - The ‘battle’ of assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh is continue, both the BJP and the Congress are doing their best to win the elections. First talk to BJP, Shivraj Singh Chauhan is the Chief Ministerial candidate from BJP, but the Congress is not clear on the Chief Ministerial candidate. Well, two names are in discussion, one of them is the state Congress chief Kamal Nath and the second one is Jyotiraditya Scindia.

Let's tell you today who had been the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh so far. In today's first episode we tell you, who was the Chief Minister in Madhya Pradesh, since the formation of Madhya Pradesh state, till the end of the Emergency.

After becoming the state of Madhya Pradesh, Pandit Ravi Shankar Shukla got the fortune to become the first Chief Minister of the state. Ravi Shankar Shukla of Congress was the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh from November 1, 1956 to December 31, 1956. Pandit Ravi Shankar Shukla was MLA from Saraypalali in Chhattisgarh.

After Pandit Ravi Shankar Shukla, Congress's Bhagwant Rao Mandloi became the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh. His tenure lasted from 9 January 1957 to 30 January 1957. Mandloi was MLA from Khandwa in Madhya Pradesh. 

After Mandloi, Kailash Nath Katju of Congress was the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh from 31 January 1957 to 14 March 1957 and again from 14 March 1957 to 11 March 1962. Katju was MLA from Jaora in Madhya Pradesh. Once again, after Kailash Nath Katju, Bhagwant Rao Mandloi became the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh. His tenure was from 12 March 1962 to 29 September 1963.

Dwarka Prasad Mishra of Congress became the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh after Bhagwant Rao Mandloi. His first term was from 30 September 1963 to 8 March 1967. His second term, however, remained from 9 March 1967 to 29 July 1967. Dwarka Prasad Mishra was a legislator from Katangi in Madhya Pradesh.

After Dwarka Prasad Mishra, Congress' Govind Narayan Singh became the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh. Singh's tenure lasted from 30 July 1967 to 12 March 1969. Govind Narayan Singh was MLA from Rampur-Baghelan in Madhya Pradesh.

After Govind Narayan Singh, Raja Naresh Chandra Singh was the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh from March 13, 1969 to March 25, 1969. This is the shortest time period of any CM in Madhya Pradesh, that is only 13 days. Raja Naresh Chandra Singh was MLA from Pusaur in Chhattisgarh.

After Raja Naresh Chandra Singh, Shyama Prasad Shukla of Congress became the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh. Shukla's tenure was from March 26, 1969 to January 28, 1972. Shukla was MLA from Rajim of Chhattisgarh. After Shyama Prasad Shukla, Prakash Chandra Sethi became the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh. His first term was from 29 January 1972 to 22 March 1972. His second term was held from 23 March 1972 to 22 December 1975. Sethi was MLA from Ujjain-North constituency of Madhya Pradesh.

Shyama Prasad Shukla once again became the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh once after Prakash Chandra Sethi. This time his tenure remained from December 23, 1975 to 30 April 1977. After April 30, 1977, President's rule was imposed in Madhya Pradesh, after which the Emergency ended and after that in the subsequent assembly elections, the Congress was defeated in Madhya Pradesh.

From the formation of the State of Madhya Pradesh till the President's rule came into force after the Emergency, 8 people in the state of Madhya Pradesh got the privilege of becoming Chief Minister. Out of these 8 Chief Ministers, 3 Chief Minister Pandit Ravi Shankar Shukla, Raja Naras Chandra Singh and Shyama Prasad Shukla were from Chhattisgarh, whereas the remaining five Chief Ministers were from Madhya Pradesh.
