Apps to keep track of your kids

Saturday - November 24, 2018 9:23 am , Category : WTN SPECIAL

WTN- Children go to school and spend eight hours a day on the school campus. Some children are as young as three or four years. Parents who take care of every little need of their children at home are oblivious of what they are doing in school.

They have to blindly trust the school teachers and the school management for the care of their children. Oftentimes, it is not physically possible for the school staffers to keep track of every child because of the huge number of children they have to handle. Children are thus likely to be off the radar frequently and no one exactly knows the minute-to-minute affairs of the child in school. To assuage this problem, some apps have now been developed to connect the wards with their guardians all through the school hours.

Over a 100 schools in the city of Indore alone reportedly have adopted this app to keep their students connected with their parents right from their arrival to school till the time of their leaving. Through these apps, parents can also know the academic and co-curricular performance of their children, their routine and fees, day to day programmes and itineraries in the school, important instructions, dates and other information etc that help the parents better assess their children’s overall development in the school on a day to day basis.

This regular updating of information also ensures better security and safety of the child in school since his daily report is being generated, which entails complete tracking of the child during the school hours. Earlier there was no such completely packaged app that could so well address all the requirements of students and parents. It was only in the PTA meetings that most of the affairs of the child were discussed, that too in too brief a time, which did not solve the day to day anxiety of the parents. Today, many of these apps are interactive and synchronised with cloud computing so that parents not only know about their children but also can communicate with the teachers and school administrators if they have a problem.

Such healthy interaction and feedback on a day to day basis also helps parents and teachers know the child’s physical and psychological needs better and they can thus accordingly tailor their approach for ever child is unique and needs a different way of sensitivity in handling. These apps are free of cost, often light and user-friendly which don’t overload the mobile or inconvenience even those parents who are not too comfortable with technology. Many young engineers and entrepreneurs are these days coming up with more specific and child-centric apps for better coverage of all aspects of childcare in schools and outside homes where children spend time. All schools and parents must mandatorily and expressly adopt these modern day technological tools to equip themselves better for the safety and welfare of their children.
