Procurement of pulses, oilseeds, Jowar and Bajra begins

Nearly 28 lakh farmers registered in state 

Bhopal: Nearly 28 lakh farmers have been registered for procurement of pulses, oilseeds, jowar and bajra in the state. The procurement of these crops has also begun. Registration for Rabi will begin in the first week of January. As many as 678 procurement centres have been set up for the purchase of pulses and oilseeds, 148 for the procurement of jowar and bajra and 855 centers have been set up for paddy.

The first sowing target this year under Rabi is 82 lakh 40 thousand hectare. The sowing of chana, masoor and mustard is complete. Sowing of wheat is in progress. Last November, 6.37 lakh metric tonnes of fertilizers has been received. Nearly 16 lakh 98 thousand farmers have been registered for soyabean and corn in Bhavantar Yojana.

This was informed at the review meeting held to review the food grain procurement and fertilizer distribution at the Mantralaya presided over by the Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. Information regarding production centers set up for the procurement, their arrangements and storage of fertilizers was provided on the occasion.

Among those who attended the meeting were Commissioner, Agriculture Production, Principal Secretary Agriculture, Principal Secretary Food, Principal Secretary Cooperative, Principal Secretary to the CM and Commissioners of concerned departments.-Window To News
