Exhibit of the Month- Masher Chakra

Bhopal: Under the popular museum series 'Exhibit of the Month' of Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya, a traditional object is displayed in the appearance for a whole month. The exhibit for the month of January, 2019 - "Masher Chakra" (A lamp depicting 12 months activities) from Karmakar (Dokra) Community, Bikna, Bankura, West Bengal. This exhibit of the month has been curetted by Dr. Sudeepa Roy (Assistant Keeper).

Masher Chakra is a bell metal lamp fashioned in the form of a peacock image holding a snake on its beak and decorated with five lamps in the front and the top of peacock tail feather depicts the activities or festivals celebrated in West Bengal are displayed in every eyespot. This object will be presented to visitors for next week.-Window To News
