Railways to share the status of vacant and booked seats with passengers during the reservation in the train

JAN 04 (WTN) - From time to time, Indian Railways takes new steps to facilitate and protect the passengers so that the passengers don’t have to face any kind of problems. In this link, the IRCTC website will now give new facility for the passengers. Actually when you book a ticket on the IRCTC website, you can see just the number of seats that are vacant. But now when you will book a ticket, you could know about the running booking status of related train whether how many seats are vacant or booked.

Indian Railways are working on this scheme, which is liked the airlines booking system, where passenger can know the status of available seats when booking. In response to the information received from the media, Railway Minister Piyush Goyal has asked senior railway officials to make the reservation chart public with the help of the CRIS (Centre for Railway Information Systems) so that the grievances of passengers related to the availability of seats can be solved.

As you know, when a passenger books the seat through the website of the airline, then the seating layout in the respective plane is shown in different colors. In which, through the color, passenger can see which seat has been booked and vacant. In the airlines, the passengers select the seat at their convenience and pay according to seat facility. It is being said that the Railways can implement this system in the coming times.

It is being said that the railways now feel that the rail reservation facility is required to be made public so that the passengers can see the status of booking in a particular train. Railway plans to show that when travelers book their seats, like the airlines, they should show seating layout before booking, in which there will be different colors for vacant and booked seats. By doing so, the passengers will be able to know clearly how many numbers of seats are vacant or booked in particular coach of the train.

According to information received from the media, after complaints received from the passengers, Railway Minister Piyush Goyal has given these instructions to the officials. It is being said that the passengers have complained that the reservation of seats in trains on certain routes is always in the waiting list. If the status of the seats in the Reservation will be shown to the passengers, then the benefit will be that passengers could know the vacant and booked seats status.

This booking scheme is very good, but as always, senior railway officials are making some excuses while avoiding their responsibility. Officials argue that making the reservation details public can be an issue of safety and the process of boarding of passengers at different station can prove to be cumbersome. But it seems that the railway officials are finding fault in this without applying this facility. While for IRCTC at booking time, they have only show the vacant and booked seats status.

In fact, the travelers have the right to know it, because many times it has been noticed that seats are already booked due to the collusion of the staff and officers of railway booking department in Railway Reservation. Railways should show its transparency in the reservation booking, so that the passengers can know how many seats are vacant and how much are booked in a coach in any train.
