Apple strudel

Ingredient:
Four 25×45 cm (10×18 in) sheets of filo pastry
60 g (2 oz) butter, melted
30 g (1 oz) fresh white breadcrumbs
15 g (1/2 oz) flaked almonds
Icing sugar, for dusting

Filling:
750 g (1 ½ lb) cooking apples, quartered, cored, peeled, and sliced
Grated zest and juice of 1 lemon
3 tbsp light muscovado sugar
½ tsp ground mixed spice
½ tsp ground cinnamon
125 g (4 oz) sultanas
60 g (2 oz) blanched almonds, roughly chopped

Method:
Make the filling: mix together the apples, lemon zest and juice, sugar, mixed spice, cinnamon, sultanas, and almonds.

Lightly brush one sheet of filo pastry with melted butter. Cover with the remaining sheets, brushing each with butter. Add the filling and finish the strudel.

Brush the strudel with the remaining melted butter and sprinkle with the almonds. Bake in a preheated oven at 190℃ (170℃ fan, Gas 5) for 40-45 minutes until the pastry is crisp and golden. Dust with the icing sugar. Cut into pieces and serve warm or cold.
