13th Blind Challenge Car- Rally

Bhopal: The 13th Blind Challenge Car- Rally was organized in collaboration with the Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya and Arushi, NGO for disabled on 13 January, 2019. There were 50 participants- drivers and the visually impaired navigators took part. The rally was flagged off by Shri Dilip Suryavanshi, (Owner of Dilip Buildcon Ltd), Ashutosh Roy, (IPS, A.D.G.P., Madhya Pradesh Police) and Prof. Sarit Kumar Chaudhuri (Director, IGRMS) began from DB City Mall and culminated at the Manav Sangrahalaya.

The rally where the vehicle was driven by a sighted person and the navigator was a blind person, the route map in Braille was given to them on the spot. The navigators for the rally were from all over Madhya Pradesh. The rally covered around 35 kms distance within the Bhopal Municipal limits. 50 teams of driver and navigators participated in the 13th chapter of Blind Challenge Car-Rally.

The rally moved through clear roads of Paryavas Bhawan, M.P. Nagar Zone 01, Jail Road, Ravindra Bhawan, Professor Colony, Bharat Bhawan, Boat Club and ended at IGRMS.   Enroute were check points to ensure, no-one drives fast, and all traffic rules are strictly followed.

The prize distribution programme was organized at Veethi Sankul open air auditorium of Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya. Jitendra Singh Raje (Executive Director, EPCO), B L Das (Regional Manager, LIC), Jatinder Singh (Amway), Prof. Sarit Kumar Chaudhuri (Director, IGRMS), Indu Raje and Dr. Piyush Trivedi (Arushi, Bhopal) were present for giving the prizes to the winners. There were cash prizes and trophies for top three winners and gifts to all navigators.  Priyesh Gupta and Shardha Jhunjhunwala bagged first prize of Rs 10000/-, Rahul Choudhary & Ramkaran Yadav and Ms. Pooja Jaiswal & Mamata Prajapati jointly bagged second prize of Rs 6000/- cash is the expert category and Reba Roy and Shri Premdas Hariyale third prize of Rs 4000/-cash and trophy. All participants were given Mementos, certificates and other prizes. IGRMS gifted caps and bags to all navigators.
