If filing income tax returns then do link the PAN card to the Aadhaar before 31 March

FEB 16 (WTN) - If you have not yet linked your PAN card to the Aadhaar, then complete this work as soon as possible because CBDT i.e. the Central Board of Direct Taxes once again emphasized that those who fill income tax returns, for them, connecting the PAN card with the Aadhaar is 'mandatory' and this work is to be completed in any situation till March 31.

For your information, let you know that CBDT has issued a letter and has advised that in September last year, the Supreme Court had upheld the constitutional recognition of the Aadhaar in one of its orders. After which, the order issued by the CBDT on June 30, 2018, under Section 133AA of Income Tax Act, 1961, becomes valid, and according to that the linking the PAN card to the Aadhaar before March 31, 2019 for the persons filing income tax return is 'compulsory'.

While on February 6 this year, the Supreme Court had confirmed in its order that linking of the PAN card to the Aadhaar is mandatory for the people who filies income tax returns. The Supreme Court has again given this decision on the petition of the Center against a decision of the Delhi High Court. Justice A.K. Sikri and Justice S Abdul Nazir had said that the Supreme Court has already given its verdict on this subject and it has retained Section-133AA of Income Tax Act-1961.

For your information, let you know that the Supreme Court declares the ambitious scheme of the Central Government Aadhaar is valid in September last year, but its inevitability was not obligatory in opening a bank account, mobile number and in admission in schools. We advise you that if you have not yet linked the PAN card to the Aadhaar then complete this work as soon as possible, otherwise you will not be able to file income tax returns.

If you want to link the PAN card to the Aadhaar, then first you open this Link https://www1.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in/eFilingGS/Services/LinkAadhaarHome.html. After opening this link, you will find a window on your screen to link the PAN card to the Aadhaar. Now in this window, you will be asked for giving the information about PAN card number, Aadhaar number and the name written on the Aadhaar. After filling it, you have to fill the Captcha Code. After completing this process, your PAN card will be linked to the Aadhaar as soon as you click the link Aadhaar option.

But for your information, let you know that your name, father's name and date of birth should be the same as both in the PAN card and Aadhaar. If there is a difference in it then your PAN card will not be linked to the Aadhar. Therefore, we advise you that before linking the PANcard to the Aadhaar, check that your name, father's name and birth date are same in both.
