78 medicines brought under the price control for the 'benefits' of the general public

FEB 28 (WTN) - Keeping in mind the interest of the poor people of the country, the Modi Government has taken a big step to cheap 78 drugs. Due to this action of the Government, medicines of the many diseases like cancer, diabetes, infection and asthma will be cheaper. According to the information, the Modi Government has decided to bring 43 non-scheduled medicines of cancer under the purview of price control and the trade margin for these medicines has been kept at 30 per cent.

For your information, let you know that the NPPA i.e. the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority has approved 42 non-scheduled cancer medicines to be used in the treatment of cancer by using extraordinary powers in the public interest under paragraph 19 of 2013, rationalizing them trade margin and decided to bring them under the purview of price control.

According to the information, due to cost control, MRP of 105 brand drugs will be reduced by 85 per cent and the customer will get the full benefit. At present, 57 drugs used in the treatment of cancer under the prescribed category are in the price control scope.

At the same time, NPPA has fixed the prices of 36 medicines used in the treatment of diabetes, cancer, asthma and other diseases including infection. The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority said in its notification that it has fixed MRP of 22 drugs and revised the high prices of 14.

The medicines which the prices have been revised include the Budesonide inhaler used in the treatment of asthma and the Gentamicin Injection used for the treatment of germs infections.At the same time, Gliclazide tablet used for treatment of diabetes type 2 and Trastuzumab injection used in cancer treatment have also been included in price control.

For your information, let you know that NPPA was formed in the year 1997. It fixes retail prices of essential medicines under schedule-one, under drug (Price Control) Order, 2013. Not only this, it also monitors the increase in unprotected medicines every year.
