Will the distance between BJD and BJP be removed?

BJD can return to NDA if needed!

MAY 22 (WTN) - As you know, nobody is a permanent friend or a enemy in politics. Friendship and animosity change according to political circumstances. There was a time when BJD (Biju Janata Dal) used to be an alliance of the NDA. In the Government of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the president of BJD and the current Chief Minister of Odisha Naveen Patnaik was Union Minister. But the political phenomenon changed and the BJD is not a part of the NDA today.

From 1998 to 2009 both the BJD and the BJP were a part of the NDA. After the 2009 Lok Sabha Elections, the BJD decided to separate from the NDA, and till today's date, the political paths of BJD and BJP are different. BJD and BJP had contested the elections together in 1999 and 2004 Lok Sabha Elections, but since the 2009 Lok Sabha elections, both the parties are contesting differently.

Now, the results of the Lok Sabha Elections are to be announced on May 23. In such a case, once again, the BJP Government is going to be formed at the Center, according to exit polls. At the same time, according to exit poll, the BJP is going to perform well in Odisha this time. It is being said that out of 21 Lok Sabha seats in Odisha, BJP can win from 5 to 15 seats. By the way, in the current politics of Odisha, the main political fight has been between the BJD and the BJP, because the Congress is fighting for its survival these days in Odisha. In the last Lok Sabha Elections, the BJD had won 20 out of 21 seats in Odisha state, while the BJP could win only one seat.

However, according to the exit poll, once again the BJP is forming the government in the center but if the prediction of the exit poll is proved wrong, then the NDA may need the help of other parties to form the government. According to the information from political corridors, the BJD, which used to be a part of the NDA, can ever return to the NDA. Yes, if believe on the BJD leader and party spokesman Amar Patnaik, his party will support to the party which is more likely to form the government at the center.

As you know, 'negotiation' is a common practice to give support and to take support in the formation of government in Indian politics. The BJD can do similar kind of 'negotiation' with any party to support the government in the center. It is being said that whatever the alliance will give response to the Odisha state’s issues and fulfill Odisha's legitimate demands, BJD will support to the same alliance.

In fact, both the BJD and BJP parties contest elections against each other in Odisha Assembly Elections and Lok Sabha Elections. But there has never been a political bitter between these two parties as seen in the others parties. More recently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for dealing with the Fani cyclone. Even during the election campaign, Prime Minister Narendra Modi did not set sarcasm on the BJD, which he did on the Congress and other opposition parties.

However, in Odisha, BJP is slowly emerging as a major political challenge for the BJD. According to exit poll, this time, in the Lok Sabha elections, BJP can give surprising results in Odisha. In the state assembly elections, BJP has given a tough fight to the BJD. It may be that in view of the possibility of possible loss from BJP, it may be possible that the BJD may soon join the NDA and support the BJP if necessary.

By the way, Naveen Patnaik is considered to be a clever leader. It is said that his political decisions are far reaching. Due to the challenge from the BJP in the state, it may be possible that the BJD may return to the NDA. Or it may also be that Naveen Patnaik's party BJD may support to the BJP in the center if needed, and the BJP may support to the BJD in the state assembly if needed. On May 23, the results of the Lok Sabha Elections will be announced, and the results will clear whether the distance between BJD and BJP will be reduced or not?
