GST reduction on CNG cars may give many 'benefits' to the government

JUNE 20 (WTN) - It is being said that after a landslide victory in the Lok Sabha Elections, the Modi Government can give a lot of ‘gifts’ to the common people in the first full budget of the second term. Where on one side the Modi Government can give benefits of the new schemes to farmers, businessmen and youth, then at the same time Prime Minister Modi can give some relief to please the middle class of the country.

As you know, the middle class, in India, is a huge vote bank. It is said that this middle class has been the BJP's traditional voter for years. Political analysts believe that this middle class has brought the BJP back to power for the second time. It is said that to please its traditional vote bank, the Modi Government may reduce the GST rate on CNG cars.

In fact, the purchasing power of middle class has increased in India these days. For this reason, the middle class has shown greater interest in buying cars in India for the past 5 years. For this middle class, the Modi Government can reduce the GST rate on CNG cars. For your information, let you know that at this time, the GST rate on CNG cars is 28 per cent. Auto sector experts believe that this time the GST rate on CNG cars can be 18 per cent in the budget. People in the automobile industry also demand that the Modi Government should reduce the GST rate on CNG cars.

Auto sector experts believe that lowering the GST rate on CNG cars can give many benefits. One of them is that it will reduce the import bill and second one is that it will also help to reduce the pollution. For your information, let you know that India has to spend a large amount of foreign exchange in importing petrol-diesel. If CNG cars are promoted in the country, then this will save the foreign currency being spent in importing petrol-diesel. At the same time, keeping in mind the pollution, it has become necessary that the Government should promote CNG cars.

In order to promote the electric vehicle, the Central Government has imposed GST at the rate of only 12 per cent. But with the CNG cars, the GST rate on the remaining vehicles is 28 per cent. At present 43% tax is charged on hybrid vehicles, which includes 28 per cent GST.

Auto sector experts say that the CNG-run vehicles do not spread pollution and their mileage is good, due to which the consumers are very satisfied with these. The cost and maintenance of CNG cars are also cheap compared to petrol and diesel running cars. Not only this, there are many sources for supply of CNG and its reservoir is in abundance. Keeping all these things in mind, the Modi Government should reduce GST on CNG cars, thereby increasing the sale of these cars.

The Modi Government also knows that in the coming days, the sale of petrol-diesel cars will come down and people's trend will be towards the environment friendly cars. In such a situation, the Modi Government is making a lot of efforts to promote clean fuel like Biofuel, bio-CNG, ethanol, Methanol. Due to this, the aim of the Modi Government is to establish 10,000 CNG filling stations in the country in the next ten years.

Now it is necessary to see whether the Modi Government reduces GST on CNG cars keeping in mind the environment and import bill. If the Modi Government lowered GST rates on CNG cars and increased the number of CNG filling stations, then this would increase the sales of CNG cars in the country. With this on one side, the lack of import of petrol and diesel will save the country's precious foreign exchange; on other side the pollution will be restricted to a great extent.
