Bottle Gourd and Green Gram

¾ cup / 150 gm green gram spilt, washed, drained
1 bottle gourd , small, peeled, chopped
½ tsp / 2 gm turmeric Powder
½ tsp / 2 gm red chili Powder
1 tsp / 5 gm cumin seeds
1 tomato, finely chopped
2 green chilies
Salt to taste
For the tempering:
1 tsp vegetable oil
½ tsp / 2 gm mustard seeds
1 dry red chili, halved
A few curry leaves
2 tbsp / 20 gm coriander leaves, Fresh, chopped
Cook the split green gram with the bottle gourd, turmeric powder, red chili powder, cumin seeds, and tomato, onion and green chilies in a pressure cooker until one whistle.
Remove and allow to cool. Add salt and stir.
For the tempering, heat the oil in a pan; add the mustard seeds. When they start spluttering, add the dry red chili and curry leaves.
Sauté for just a minute or until the red chili changes colour to dark red.
Add the cooked bottle gourd and green gram to this; mix well.
Serve hot garnished with fresh coriander leaves.
