Know why India canceled thousands of crores weapons deal from Israel?

JUNE 25 (WTN) - India has recently canceled arms deal worth 35,000 crores from Israel. Why did the Indian Government do this and what are the reasons behind this? Let us give this in detail. First of all, let you know that if everything happened accordance with the plan, India would be able to make Man-Portable Anti-Tank Guided Missile (MPATGM) in the coming two years. This is a significant step of the Defense Research and Development Organization in the country to manufacture weapons. If this happens, then in the coming years, India will be standing in the field of arms-manufacturing countries.

For your information, let you know that India had made a deal of $ 500 million (about 35,000 crores rupees) of weapons from Israel. In this deal, India had to buy spike anti-tank missiles from Israel. But suddenly India has canceled this deal on a ‘promise’ by the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO), and the ‘promise’ is of that DRDO will manufacture the similar anti-tank missiles like Israel's spike anti-tank missiles within two years.

After the 'promise' of DRDO, the Indian Government has informed Israel to cancel the deal. According to the information, DRDO has promised to manufacture exactly the same missile with VEM Technology Ltd, which was India was buying from Israel. DRDO's 'claim' and 'promise' is that in the developing the missile, it will spend less money than the deal of missile purchasing from Israel.

But the big question is, how did the Modi Government 'believe' on the promise of DRDO? Actually, there are many reasons behind this. First of all is that this is a major step towards realizing the Make-in-India vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in which there is a priority to develop weapons in India. Under the Make-in-India vision of Prime Minister Modi, India will focus on manufacturing missiles and tanks instead of importing defense weapons from other countries, which India has been importing so far.

At the same time there is a great reason behind the ‘trust’ on the ‘promise’ of DRDO, as there was apprehensiveness of being ‘disputed’ of the arms deal with Israel like the Rafale aircraft deal done. It is being said that after the promise of DRDO that it could develop and manufacture the similar missile in less money than the deal with Israel, therefore the Government did not want to have a dispute like purchasing Rafale aircraft again. As you know, the Rafale plane deal dispute had become a very big issue in the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections. In the Rafale case, there is an 'allegation' of the Opposition that the plane which could have been assembled by the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), instead of giving this assembling agreement to HAL, Modi Government has gave this agreement to a private sector company owned by Anil Ambani.

After the Rafale aircraft dispute, Modi Government was on an ‘offensive mode’ before the election, but now it seems that it has gone on a ‘defensive mode’. The Modi Government does not want that once a dispute arises like the purchasing of Rafale aircraft, which again charges to the Government. It is being said that the Modi Government has canceled the deal of missile from Israel while believing the ‘promise’ of DRDO.

It is being said that DRDO, which develops India's domestic defense armories, is moving very rapidly in the direction of manufacturing Man-Portable Anti-Tank Guided Missile (MPATGM). According to the information, DRDO has also done many related tests. DRDO claims that a successful trial of the missile has been done in Ahmednagar in September last year.

According to the information, senior officers of the Indian Army have discussed with the DRDO about this much anticipated missile. It is also being said that the DRDO has given the Army a date to give them these missiles. Now it is necessary to see how much the DRDO can cooperative with Prime Minister Modi's Make-in-India vision by developing these missiles on the given time. That is why, because if the DRDO succeeded in making these missiles at a price lower than the cost of weapons deal from Israel, then the Modi government would be saved from the dispute like Rafale, and the Prime Minister Modi's Make-in-India vision will get new direction.
