Drink and Drive: 1500 alcohol meters are being purchased to control accidents
Bhopal, July 10: Holding discussions with the Nodal Officers of the Road Safety department of Police Training and Research Institute, the Member Secretary of State Road Safety Council and Special Director General of Police, Purushottam Sharma said that speed radars will be installed on roads to bring down road accidents. He also informed that 1500 alcohal meters of good quality are being purchased to control drink and drive accidents. These meters will be provided to all the police stations within one and half month. Meters will record inebriated condition of the driver by just blowing and his/her photo immediately.
Sharma further stated that efforts should be made to bring down road accidents by 10 percent in the state. He also invited suggestions from the nodal officers for action plan. Sharma mentioned that besides cameras, speed radars will be installed on T and X junctions and on both the sides of blind curves. On such places, automobile drivers will also be made aware through signboards to control speed. In case of accident, information through technical message will be given to Dial-100 and ambulance will be informed immediately. Injured will be sent to the nearest hospital immediately, after providing basic treatment by ambulance.
Moreover, Sharma said that instructions are being given to all the Police Station In-Charge to remove encroachment from busy roads to put an end to accidents. The Police Station In-Charges have been told to take action against minors driving vehicles and people driving without license and helmets in urban areas. He further asserted that the School Education Department will also be told vide letter that students driving vehicles without helmets should strictly follow the road safety rules.- Window To News
