Delhi Speaker's notice to BJP MLA for defamatory remark

New Delhi, July 18 (IANS) Delhi Assembly Speaker Ram Niwas Goel here on Thursday sent a legal notice to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislator Manjinder Singh Sirsa terming comments made by him on Twitter against Goel as "false" and "defamatory".
Retweeting a photo of a white SUV on which it was written 'Son of MLA', Sirsa had tweeted on July 15, "This vehicle belongs to son of AAP MLA and Delhi Assembly Speaker Ram Niwas Goel..."
The notice send through an advocate, read, "In fact, this car doesn't belong to my client's son Sumit Goel."
The Speaker has asked Sirsa to immediately withdraw the allegations and tender an unconditional apology in writing and within seven days state the facts on social media and other platforms where he made the allegations.
"In case of failure to comply with this notice within seven days of its receipt, you shall face appropriate civil as well as criminal proceedings," the notice read.
