People of South Korea 'boycott' Japan and Japanese goods!

AUG 03 (WTN) - In view of the growing 'threats' of expansionist China, the US East Asian allies Japan and South Korea have had good political, economic and cultural ties. At the same time Japan and South Korea have been showing political and economic 'solidarity' against China's diplomacy. But, now the 'emotions against’ Japan are increasing among the people of South Korea. After all, what are the reasons that the people of South Korea are 'boycotting' Japan and Japan-made goods? Let us explain this in detail.

For your information, let you know that a local court in South Korea had ordered Japanese companies to pay damages to the Korean people forcibly employed in the colonial period from 1910 to 1945. Since this order, a new phase of 'tension' has started between these two countries.

Meanwhile, the Japanese Government on Friday approved the exclusion of South Korea from its alleged white list of 'preferential export partners' in its counterattack. According to Japan, this decision was necessary for Japan's national security. Japan has 'openly' accused South Korea of violating export regulations. The Government of Japan has approved an amendment to the Export Control Act, according to which South Korea, the only Asian country included in this list, will be excluded.

Between Japan and South Korea, the issue related to the 'forcible' work being done in the colonial period before World War II has been going on for a long time. Here, South Korea had warned Japan that if for any reason Japan excluded South Korea from its list of preferential export partners, it could have a serious impact on the security relations of the two US allies. Japan has taken this step at a time when the US has requested both two countries to 'bypass' mutual differences.

Here, South Korea has termed this step of Japan as 'one-sided' and 'voluntary'. South Korea has said in response that this ‘unfair step’ of Japan will be answered. Following the harsh decision of the Government of Japan, the 'feeling' against Japan is increasing among the people of South Korea. After renewed tension between these two countries, people of South Korea are now 'boycotting' Japan made products like beer, cars etc. Not only this, the people of South Korea are also canceling plans to go to Japan.

According to the information, a decline in sales of Japan made beer in the Hypermarket in South Korea and 24-hour convenience stores has been seen. Japan's beer sales in South Korea's largest retail chain, E-Mart, have decreased by nearly 38 per cent between July 1 and July 24. Japan's 'protests' in South Korea are increasing so much that other products, including Japan's beer, are being removed from all the small Hypermarket and Convenience stores.

In addition to beer, sales of Japan made cars in South Korea have also declined. According to the information, Japan's car sales in South Korea are estimated to fall by 32 per cent between July 1 and July 20. On the other hand, people of South Korea going to Japan have also canceled their trips, after which there is a 'huge drop' in bookings for travel to Japan. Now it has to be seen how long does this 'trade war' continue between these two countries?
