Mumbai, Aug 6 (IANS) As the world observed the 74th anniversary of the dropping of an atom bomb on Hiroshima today, hundreds of Mumbai college students on Tuesday marched in a peace rally seeking a nuclear-free world for future generations.
The peace march-cum-rally was organized by the Bombay Sarvodaya Mandal (BMS) and around 850 students from NSS units of various colleges under University of Mumbai and SNDT Women's University.
It started from the historic Azad Maidan and concluded one km away at the Hutatma Chowk in south Mumbai where the students took a pledge to work for peace and a nuclear-free world, said BSM's chief T.R.K. Somaiya.
"Today, we pledge together with the millions of people all over the World to work tirelessly for the complete elimination of Nuclear Weapons and all Weapons," said the pledge, administered by Atul Salunke, of NSS Cell, Maharashtra Government.
Students also carried pictures and banner graphically depicting the horrors of an atomic bomb along with social and peace activities who joined them in the march.
