Plea of Modi Government; Account of social media sites should be linked to Aadhaar number

Facebook, WhatsApp and Twitter can be linked to Aadhaar number

AUG 21 (WTN) - Ever since the Aadhaar card came into existence in the country, various types of disputes have been associated with it. The validity of the Aadhaar card was challenged in the Supreme Court, after which in a historic decision, the Supreme Court abolished the Aadhaar card mandatory for some schemes and works, but the Aadhaar card was declared mandatory for some schemes and works, and it was declared a valid document for certain schemes and works.

But if we tell you that in future, it may be necessary to link social media sites like Facebook, WhatsApp and Twitter with Aadhaar card number, then after reading this, you must have wondered that what is the matter after all? Let us explain this in detail.

In fact, the Modi Government at the Center wants that social media sites should be linked to the Aadhaar number, so that any kind of criminal case by social media sites can be investigated easily.

At the same time, for your information, let you know that the Supreme Court has agreed to hear the petition of Facebook regarding linking of Aadhaar profile with user profile, in which demand for transfer of pending cases in different High Courts across the country to the Supreme Court. For your information, let you know that four petitions have been filed in this case. Two petitions have been filed in the Madras High Court, one in the Orissa High Court and one in the Bombay High Court.

The Supreme Court has issued a notice to the Central Government, Google, Twitter and other social networking sites on Facebook's plea seeking to transfer cases related to Aadhaar linking to user profile. In this whole matter, WhatsApp says how the High Court can decide the policy matter, because the Indian Parliament has this right.

WhatsApp says in this case that all the cases related to Aadhaar linking the user profile should be transferred to the Supreme Court, so that it can hear and settle the matter. However, the Supreme Court on this issue has allowed the trial of cases related to linking Facebook-Aadhaar to continue in the Madras High Court, but said that the final decision would not be taken. By the way, Facebook has also demanded that the Supreme Court should hear the case. Facebook says this is a matter of privacy.

Here, the social media lawyer says that the Supreme Court should hear the matter and issue an order. Social media demands that this matter is a completely global matter, lest one High Court pass some orders and the other High Court do something else.

Actually, the Central Government wants the accounts of social media sites to be linked to the Aadhaar number. The Attorney General, appearing on behalf of the Central Government, has said that the government does not have any such technology, so that the person who initiates the message or post can be detected, especially on posts with criminal tendencies. If the social media accounts will be linked to the Aadhaar number, then any kind of investigation will be helpful in such cases.

Actually, there has been a demand for a long time that other social media sites including Facebook should be linked to the Aadhaar number. This is why, because doing so will close fake accounts open on social media sites. On the other hand, if there is any crime of any kind through a social media account, it will be easy to reach that account holder by linking the Aadhaar number. But social media companies are opposing linking of Aadhaar number with social media sites account, because they believe that this will lead to breach of privacy. Now it has to be seen whether the Supreme Court gives some decision in this case.
