Chinese companies 'capture' the Indian mobile market!

AUG 30 (WTN) – China, a country with an expansionist mindset, has always been anti-India in its diplomacy. From granting stapled visas to Kashmiris to the Doklam dispute, China has always taken anti Indian steps which have annoyed India. At the same time, after the abrogation of Article 370 from the state of Jammu and Kashmir in India, the way China is supporting Pakistan at the international level, there is background of anger against China among the Indian people.

Annoyed by China's anti-India activities, the Indian community periodically warns of boycott of Chinese goods. After the abrogation f Article 370 from the state of Jammu and Kashmir, China has openly proved once again by supporting Pakistan in the UN Security Council that opposition to India is paramount in China's diplomacy. In view of China's anti-India stance, once again the discussion of boycott of Chinese goods in the country is in full swing.

But do you know that Chinese goods have access to shops in every street in India. Not only this, the Indian mobile market is occupied by Chinese companies in a way. If you think it is easy to boycott Chinese goods from the Indian market, then you are probably mistaken. Indian markets are full of Chinese made incense sticks to mobiles. The mobile which you keep almost always with you, in the Indian market of same mobile is completely dominated by Chinese companies.

Chinese companies are so dominant in the Indian mobile market that Chinese mobile companies account for about 81 per cent of the entire Indian mobile market. At the same time, the total share of all other brands in the Indian mobile market is only 19%, which is 2% less than the previous year.

In the mobile market of India, the most mobiles sold by the Chinese company Xiaomi. For the last two years, 28% of India's mobile market has been held by Chinese mobile company Xiaomi. Apart from Xiaomi, Chinese mobile company Vivo holds the third number in the Indian mobile market. According to the figures for the second quarter of 2019, the Chinese mobile company Vivo accounts for about 11 per cent of the Indian mobile market.

At the same time, a Chinese mobile company is also present in the fourth number in the Indian mobile market. Chinese mobile company Realme is at the fourth position with 9% share, whereas in the second quarter of 2018, its penetration in the Indian mobile market was just 1%. There is also a Chinese company at the fifth position in the Indian mobile market. The fifth position is occupied by Chinese mobile company Oppo. As of the second quarter of 2019, Oppo has a share of 8% in the Indian mobile market.

It is clear that boycotting the goods of Chinese companies in India is not easy. Chinese companies alone account for over 80 per cent of the Indian mobile market. Actually, the mobiles of Chinese companies are available at the lowest prices with the best features, while the mobiles of companies from other countries are comparatively more expensive with the same features. It is clear that competing with Chinese mobile companies is not easy for other countries mobile companies and Indian mobile companies. At the same time, boycotting Chinese companies is not as easy as it is being estimated.
