Keep the driving license and vehicle related documents in a digital way!

SEP 09 (WTN) - Since the implementation of the new Motor Vehicle Act in the country, there has been a stir among those who do not follow the traffic rules. There are reports of issuing of thousands of rupees challan from all over the country for violating traffic rules. As you know that since the new Motor Vehicle Act has existed, the amount of challan has been increased considerably due to the lack of necessary documents related to driving license and vehicle. However, according to the new rules, the driver has been given 15 days to show the driving license and related documents if the driving license and the vehicle documents are not accompanied while driving.

But to avoid the tricky action of traffic police, so keep the driving license and necessary documents related to the vehicle with you whenever you drive. But you may be thinking that it is difficult to keep so many documents together; and secondly if the documents are lost by mistake, then you may face a lot of problems. But you no longer need to keep the driving license and necessary documents related to the vehicle while driving. After reading this, you must have been shocked that what is all this and what is the whole matter? Let us tell you in detail.

First of all, let us tell you that which documents are necessary for a driver to keep with him while driving so that challan can’t be issued. The driving license, registration of vehicle (RC), Third Party Insurance, Pollution Certificate and fitness certificate is required to be kept along with commercial vehicle while driving. But now you do not have to keep the original copy of the driving license and documents related to the vehicle while driving. Now you can keep these documents in a digital form with you in the mobile.

In order to keep driving license and vehicle related documents digitally safe in the mobile, first of all you have to download an app named DigiLocker in your mobile. In this app, you can keep all the documents, along with driving lenience, related to the vehicle with you in a digital way. After downloading this app, you can digitally save driving license, vehicle registration (RC), third party insurance, pollution certificate and fitness certificate in it.

After linking this app to the Aadhaar number, you can upload many documents issued by the government in it. While uploading a document, you can also decide that in which format you want to upload the document i.e. in PDF or word format. You can upload documents like PAN card and gas connection in addition to the documents related to the vehicle.

For your information, let you know that DigiLocker has partnered with UIDAI so that the Aadhaar card number can be digitally protected in it. The importance of digital Aadhaar is also equal to e-Aadhaar. Actually, DigiLocker is a cloud based platform, where you can upload all the required documents and keep them with you digitally. In addition to documents issued by the government in DigiLocker, you can also upload scanned documents.

You can show documents uploaded by the government recognized DigiLocker when asked by the traffic police while checking. For your information, let you know that the documents uploaded in the DigiLocker are valid and traffic police and RTO officials can’t refuse to accept them.

Actually, DigiLocker is one of the Digital India programs of the Government of India. Its beta version has been released by the Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DEITY), Government of India. The main objective of Digital Locker is to reduce the use of physical documents and to enable the exchange of e-documents among agencies. While the authenticity of online documents is ensured in DigiLocker, users can upload their electronic documents and sign those using digital e-sign facility. These digitally signed documents can be shared with government organizations or other entities.

So we advise you to keep your driving license and all the documents related to the vehicle with you whenever you drive. You do not have to carry the original physical copy of all the documents related to the vehicle including the driving license. You can digitally upload all the important documents related to the vehicle including a driving license in the DigiLocker so that you can easily show them from your mobile and avoid hassles if you ask for these documents from anywhere.
