Equip your car with FASTag today; get rid of the hassle of stopping at the toll plaza

OCT 16 (WTN) - You must have passed through the toll plaza several times while traveling on the highway. You must have noticed that only after paying toll tax at the toll plaza your vehicle can go ahead. But at times you may have been delayed due to congestion at the toll plaza, at times you may have faced trouble due to lack of change money. But if we tell you that now you will not have to wait due to congestion on the toll plaza, nor will you fight for change money at the toll barrier, then you must have wondered what is going to happen after all?

Yes, now you are going to get relief from the rush of vehicles at the toll plaza, and your vehicle will pass the toll plaza without stopping. This is why because from December 1, FASTag is going to be used for toll payment across the country. Now you must be wondering that what is this FASTag? Actually the electronic toll collection system or FASTag scheme was first introduced in India in 2014, now which is gradually being applied to toll plazas across the country.

With the help of FASTag, you will be able to pay your toll plaza tax online without stopping at the toll plaza. Actually, FASTag is installed in the windscreen of your vehicle and it has Radio Frequency Identification (RFID). As your vehicle approaches the toll plaza, the sensor on the toll plaza comes in contact with the FASTag installed on the windscreen of your vehicle. After which the payment of the fee levied on that toll plaza is done automatically by your FASTag account. That is you can now pay your toll tax without stopping at the toll plaza.

This FASTag installed in your vehicle starts its work as soon as your prepaid account is activated. As soon as the FASTag vehicle crosses a toll plaza, the toll tax will be paid from the FASTag account and a related message will be sent to your mobile. But as soon as the amount in the FASTag is less, you will have to recharge it again. For your information, let us know that FASTag will be valid for only five years, after that you will have to install a new FASTag on your car again.

According to the information, at present, there are a total of 527 toll plazas on the National Highway in the country, out of which all the lanes of 380 toll plazas have been equipped with FASTag. The remaining lanes are also being equipped with FASTag. The central government claims that from December 1, all the toll plazas in the country will have a FASTag.

It is obvious that with the help of FASTag in the vehicle, you will save your time, as well as you will stop the wastage of fuel due to stopping at the toll plaza. Since FASTag is a transparent system, it will also know who is sitting in which vehicle. This will also help the Home Ministry to control crime and the police will be able to reach the chaotic elements easily.

At the same time, the government argues that to pay toll tax on toll plazas, the vehicles have to be stopped so there is a wastage of time, as well as the stopping of vehicles at the toll plaza,  causes pollution from the smoke emanating from them. But with the introduction of the FASTag facility on toll plazas, the vehicles will not have to stop for toll tax, which will save diesel of crores of rupees every day and will not spread pollution.

Not only this, but the FASTag has also been connected to the GST network. That is it will work like the Aadhaar card of your vehicle because it will contain all the information about you and your vehicle. For your information, let us know that when the notification for FASTag was issued, it was mandatory to arrange a cashless toll on at least one lane on the toll plaza. Now, when all lanes on the highway are FASTagged, cash will be accepted on only one lane. So we suggest that you too equip FASTag in your vehicle and get rid of the hassle of stopping at the toll plaza.
