Equip your vehicle with FASTag or else there may be trouble for you!

OCT 18 (WTN) - As you know Modi Government is taking many steps for a cashless economy. In this series, now the Modi Government is also going to cashless to collect toll tax on the toll plaza on the highway. For your information, let us know that from December 1, 2019, all the highways of the country will become FASTag lanes and now you will be able to cross the toll gate on the highway with some conditions if there is no FASTag in your vehicle.

For your information, let us know that FASTag is a kind of device, which is mounted on the windscreen of the vehicle. When based on RFID (Radio-frequency identification) technique FASTag attached vehicle passes through the toll plaza, then the radio frequency technology scans the FASTag. As soon as FASTag is scanned, toll tax is paid from the user's bank account. The aim behind the government's adoption of FASTag technology is that it will not lead to long lines on toll plazas, which will save the time of the passengers as well as there will be no waste of fuel.

If you are wondering how you can get FASTag, then for your information, let us know that you can buy FASTag from RTO, bank, e-commerce portal or any petrol pump. After purchasing FASTag, the owner of the vehicle will first have to fill an online inquiry form about it. In this form, the owner will be asked about his complete information, ID proof, address proof, information about the vehicle and other information.

If you want, you can also link FASTag to your bank account so that it can be recharged. According to the official website of FASTag, it is also necessary to deposit a one-time tag deposit amount of FASTag. It is Rs 200 for cars, jeeps and vans, and Rs 500 for trucks and tractors. You can use a credit card, debit card, NEFT, and net banking to recharge FASTag. For your information, let us know that a minimum of Rs 100 and a maximum of Rs 1 lakh can be kept in a FASTag account.

If you have not installed FASTag in your vehicle, get it done as soon as possible, as per the latest order of the Ministry of Road Transport, from December 1, if a vehicle goes into FASTag lane despite not being FASTag, then vehicle owner will have to pay double toll tax. Not only this, all lanes of the toll plazas will be FASTag lane except one lane. That is if you want to pay toll tax through cash, then only one lane will be available at the toll plaza. This means that there will be such a long queue of vehicles in this lane, which will waste your time.

Actually the government is doing all this to promote e-tolls. Under which all the lanes except one cash lane will be FASTag lane at all toll plazas. In order to discourage cash transactions, the government has made a rule that if a driver accidentally entered into the FASTag lane despite not being FASTag then he would have to pay double toll tax.

According to government data, currently 25 per cent of the toll tax is being paid through FASTag and 75 per cent of the amount is paid through cash. So in the future, while driving on the highway, you do not have to face any kind of trouble while paying toll tax on the toll plaza, so use FASTag in your vehicle as soon as possible.
