Why the Badrinath Temple priest model in the discussion?

NOV 22 (WTN) - After the decision of the Supreme Court, the way for the construction of Shri Ram Temple on the disputed land in Ayodhya has been cleared. In a historic decision, the Supreme Court has ordered the Central Government to form a trust for the construction and operation of Shri Ram Temple in Ayodhya. After the Supreme Court's decision on the construction of Shri Ram temple, there are discussions as to who will be included in the trust by the Central Government, and when will the construction work start?

Amongst all these types of discussions, the biggest discussion is that who will be included in the trust that the Central Government will set up to direct the Shri Ram Temple? But the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, which has led the Shri Ram Mandir movement since its inception, demands that neither the government should have any representation in the trust, nor the trust should have any place other than those who believe in Vaishnavism, Shaivism, and Saguna Brahm.

After the construction of the temple is clear, there is now a discussion that who should get the right to worships in the temple? In this regard, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad demands that the Badrinath temple priest model should be adopted to protect the system of worship from Familialism. You must be wondering that what the Badrinath model for the priest's appointment in the temple is? So let us tell you about it in detail.

In Badrinath, one of the four pilgrimage sites of the Hindus, the same Brahmin may hold the priesthood as long as he is a Brahmachari. As long as he is a Brahmin priest, it is mandatory to follow celibacy with rules and devotion. According to the tradition that has been going on for years, only the Namboodiripad Brahmins of Kerala can become the chief priests for the worship of Badrinath temple. For your information, let us know that Namboodiripad Brahmins are considered as descendants of Adi Guru Shankaracharya.

Adi Guru Shankaracharya had established four pilgrimages (Dhams) in India in all four directions, in which Badrinath temple is a Dham. Shankaracharya himself was a resident of Kaladi village in Kerala, from where he along with his followers and Namboodiripad Brahmins worked for the upliftment and propagation of Vedic religion throughout the country.

These Namboodiripad Brahmins are also called Rawal. Among the Namboodiripad Brahmins of Kerala, Rawal, that is, the chief priest is chosen by the Badrinath Temple Committee. The consent of the King of Travancore is also taken in the appointment of the priests of the Badrinath Temple, also known as Rawal. The minimum qualification for being a priest to Namboodiripad Brahmins are that they must be a graduate of Veda-Vedang school and should hold at least a Shastri degree and also be Brahmachari.

Adi Guru Shankaracharya had arranged for the revival of Hinduism and to unite the Hindus, that there should be a priest of South Indians in the temples of North India and a priest of North Indian should be appointed in the temples of South India. Therefore, a priest from North India becomes a priest at the Rameswaram Temple.

That is, only the Namboodiripad Brahmins of Kerala has the right to become the chief priests in the world-famous temple of Badrinath and the Brahmins of Uttarakhand's local Dimri community helps them. By the way, for your information, let us know that the Dimri Brahmins are also mainly South Indians, and these people had come to Badrinath as assistant priests along with Adi Guru Shankaracharya. But once Badrinath arrived, they did not go back to Kerala and started living in Dimmer village near Karnprayag, hence they are called Dimri. It is only these Dimri pundits who have the right to make bhog in the Badrinath temple.

On the basis of this Badrinath model, the demand for the appointment of a priest in Sri Ram Temple in Ayodhya is being demanded by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad. According to the Hindu religious experts, the Badrinath model is a role model for the appointment of a priest in which there is no libertarianism for the position of priest and one Brahmin who is qualified and celibate has the privilege of becoming the priest of the temple. Now it has to be seen who will be appointed by the Central government in the trust to be built for the construction and operation of Shri Ram Temple, and after the construction of Shri Ram Temple, the priest is appointed here on the Badrinath model or not?
