JIH backs AIMPLB's move to file Ayodhya review petition

New Delhi, Dec 3 (IANS) The Jamiat Islami Hind (JIH) has backed the All India Muslim Personal Law Board's (AIMPLB) decision to file review petition in the Ayodhya case in the apex court.In pursuit of justice, its necessary that all options be explored, the JHI added."Many legal experts have made adverse comments on the judgement and the Jamaat feels the demand for justice and fair play has not been met by awarding the land to those who demolished the Babri Masjid. The Jamaat supports the AIMPLB move," the JIH said in a statement.Backing the decision to reject the 5 acres land awarded by the Supreme Court for building a mosque, the Jamaat said, "Muslims didn't litigate for the piece of land but justice".Earlier, while the Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind removed senior counsel Rajeev Dhavan from representing it in the court, the AIMPLB decided to continue with him as its counsel.AIMPLB Secretary Maulana Khalid Saifullah Rahmani said on Tuesday it would continue to fight the case and file review petition on behalf of individual litigants."Dhavan has always been a symbol of unity and justice. The AIMPLB will continue its efforts under his esteemed leadership and guidance," he said.The AIMPLB was indebted to the senior lawyer for his 'sincere, exceptional and incomparable efforts in the Babri case,' he added.
