Bhopal Tense As Two Groups Clash In Old City

Bhopal: The city of Bhopal witnessed communal tension in some parts of old city when groups of two communities pelted stones at each other near Hamidia hospital Tuesday evening. Following the incident heavy police force has been deployed in the area and sensitive parts of the city. There was tension in parts of the city when this news was filed.
When the incident was reported police force reached the spot and resorted to canning and several rounds of teargas shells were lobbed to disperse the mob.
Senior officials of Bhopal including Collector Nishant Warwade, DIG Raman Sikarwar, Arvind Saxena SP (North), and others senior officials rushed to the spot. Section 144 has been imposed in parts of the city to avoid further untoward incident.
According to sources the incident occurred near a temple situated near the main gate of the Hamidia Hospital where members of one community had gathered to perform maha-arti at the temple. At the same time the members of the other community had gathered to offer prayers at an old-built mosque which was found in the premises of Hamidia Hospital few days ago.
A clash took place between the two communities and both started pelting stones over each other. The police in order to avoid a clash intervened and resorted to cane charge and lobbed teargas shells to disperse the mob.
Few vehicles including FRV Dial 100 were also damaged by the mob among which some also threw petrol-bombs in an attempt to torch the vehicles parked in the areas.
The situation is now reported to under control. There was heavy stone pelting from both groups and police had to lob teargas shells and carry out cane charge to disperse the mobs. Heavy force has been deployed to maintain peace.-Window To News
