What is Crop Girdawari?

Crop girdawari is a significant process undertaken every year. It is undertaken twice in a year after the sowing of Kharif and Rabi season. It is registered in land records. It is a process of collecting agriculture statistics on the basis of which information regarding estimate of the crop area and production is prepared.

Agriculture year begins from July 1 to June 30. The crop of area sown in khasra of the ongoing year based on first kharif and second rabi crops is registered on the basis of girdawari.

Why is girdawari important

Figures of rakba sown in kharif and rabi crops are obtained on the basis of crop girdawari. On this basis of production and productivity of chief crops, the agriculture rate of a state and country is fixed.

It is through the crop girdawari work that the crop forecast is made. Information is presented to the government for statistical work on the basis of rakba of revenue khasra. This information is important for crop insurance, compensation for losses due to natural calamity, bank loans and for taking benefits of schemes.
Mobile application

Through this mobile app, the patwaris will acquire information about all khasras of all landowners of the village on their mobile. As soon as the information is uploaded, the farmer will be sent a SMS notifying him about what information has been registered under crop girdawari in their khasras. This SMS will have a pass code.

If the farmer approves the information uploaded by the patwari, he will tell the pass code to the patwari. The information will be considered final only when the patwari enters the pass code in the application.

If any farmer does not have a mobile number, he may use a neighbour’s number to obtain the SMS. Apart from the information about the crop, other waste land, trees, houses on land etc. will be registered through the application.

Principal Secretary Revenue Arun Pandey gave information about the mobile app. Commissioner Agriculture Production P.C. Meena, Principal Secretary Agriculture Dr. Rajesh Rajoura and Principal Secretary Cooperatives Ajit Kesari were present. Commissioner Land-records KN Agarwal proposed the vote of thanks.-WTN
