1965 journalists got insured in year 2017-18

Bhopal: At least 1965 journalists got insured in year 2017-18 under Health and Accident Group Insurance Scheme launched for journalists by the state government. The insurance policy has been implemented on October 1. Last year 1367 journalists got insured. This way nearly 600 new journalists have been included in the insurance scheme. The process of sending the card of the insured journalists is in progress. The list of marked hospitals will also be attached with the insurance card. Insurance card can be downloaded online also. The list of insured journalists will be available on the website of the Department of Public Relations.

At least 263 journalists underwent treatment in various marked hospitals in year 2016-17. The insurance company paid Rs 93 lakh 615 for treatment out of which 14 were heart patients and 17 cancer patients.

About 170 hospitals of Madhya Pradesh and 5743 hospitals in the country are included in the insurance scheme. Most of the important hospitals of the country are included in the scheme. Journalists included in the scheme are entitled for cashless treatment for self or family member for up to Rs 2 lakhs in any marked hospital.
There is provision of an assistance of Rs 5 lakhs in case of accident under the scheme.-Windowtonews
