Jail Guards should fulfil responsibility with dedication and dexterity

CM Chouhan at Jail Guard Convocation Parade
Bhopal: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that jail guards should fulfil their responsibility with dedication, dutifulness, dexterity and honesty. Looking at the convocation parade of jail guards, it is certain that they are capable of fulfilling their responsibilities. Chouhan was addressing newly-trained jail guards of year 2016 batch at the Convocation Parade-2017 at Lal Parade Ground today.
CM Chouhan said that vigilant security and reform is the goal of the Jail Department, Security system in jails have been made most modern. Guards are being equipped with state-of-the-art weapons. He said that jails work for peace in society. Several dreaded criminals stay in jails who if allowed to come outside can create havoc in the society. The Chief Minister said that there are circumstantial criminals also in the jails, hence the guards must behave with the prisoners accordingly. He said that even the most evil and bad person has good feelings. Jails play an important role in transforming such criminals through fostering and nurturing good feelings in them. Constant efforts must be made to improve the working in jails.
Extending his best wishes to the guards for their bright future, the Chief Minister expressed the hope that they would give a splendid performance in discharging their duties. Recalling martyr guard Ramashankar Singh, Chouhan said that he would not let his sacrifice go waste. Government was always with his family. It may be recalled that Rs 25 lakhs financial assistance was given to the family of the martyr guard, besides a government job and the Chief Minister had personally welcomed baratis at the guard’s daughter’s wedding.
Chouhan said that display by women guards at the samaroh proves that they can face any situation. Government’s decision to provide 33 percent reservation to women is correct and successful. He said that guards spend their lives in maintaining secure atmosphere in the society and the country. The Chief Minister appealed to the guards to be ready to sacrifice for the society and the country.
Earlier, the Chief Minister inspected the parade and took salute of an attractive march past. He reviewed the demonstration of gallantry skills of the guards and distributed awards.
Director General Jail Sanjay Choudhury told that 710 jail guards including 500 male guards and 210 female guards are participating in the samaroh. He told that the jail guards have obtained basic training for the first time in Police and Paramilitary Force. Resources available for constant improvement of jails are being utilised to the full. Reformative works are being undertaken seriously. Additional Director General Jails G.R. Meena administered oath to the new guards for dedication towards the Constitution.
Director General of Police R. K. Shukla, Additional Chief Secretary Home K.K. Singh, Additional Chief Secretary Jails Vinod Semwal besides a large number of senior officials of the Police and Jail Department and relatives of the guards were present on the occasion.-Windowtonews
