DONGMO is Exhibit of the Month of October

Bhopal: Under the popular museum series 'Exhibit of the Month' of Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya, a traditional object is displayed in the appearance for a whole month. The exhibit for the month of October, 2017 is "DONGMO".  The Director, Income Tex, M.P & C.G,- Shri Abhay kumar singh inaugurated Exhibit of the month at Veethi Sankul indoor exhibition building. This exhibit has been mounted by Dr. Preetam Choudhari (Museum Assistant).

DONGMO is a traditional device used for preparing Goor-goor Tea in the Himalayan regions like Kashmir, Laddakh, Himachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh and Uttrakhand. It is mainly used for mixing butter at the time of preparing Goor-goor tea. It is also known by different names like Dongmo, Domoh, Rakshen Chadang etc. It is largely used by the Changpa, Drokpa, Bhutia tribes in their domestic and festive life. Dongmo is a cylindrical wooden tube consisting of a solid churner extended along with lid on the top through a central hole. The lower part of the churning stick is attached with a circular wheel to function as an efficient mixer.-Windowtonews
