Meeting of Committee on woman empowerment and strengthening of self-help groups and malnutrition-free Madhya Pradesh held

Bhopal: The meeting of committee constituted to give suggestions on woman empowerment and strengthening of self-help groups and malnutrition-free Madhya Pradesh, as per the priority set by the chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, was held at Mantralaya.

Public Relations, Water Resources and Parliamentary Affairs Minister, Narottam Mishra, Woman and Child Development Minister, Smt Archana Chitnis, Public Health and Family Welfare Minister, Rustam Singh, additional chief secretary, higher education, BR Naidu, principal secretary, woman and child development, JN Kansotiya, principal secretary, food and civil supplies Smt Neelam Shami Rao, Director General Registration and Stamps Smt. Kalpana Shrivastava and other officers were present in the meeting.

 Best practices of other states and other countries were discussed, besides different schemes already being implemented for women during discussion on woman empowerment and strengthening of self help groups. Work in coordination was underlined for improvement in indexes related with women in the meeting.

Recommendations were made for skill upgradation, and availing facility easily for capacity development and expansion of legal literacy and awareness for woman empowerment. The committee made its suggestions for health check up and availing qualitative health services along with submitting action plan on social, economic, political and administrative dimensions for women empowerment.
 
On the action plan for malnutrition-free Madhya Pradesh, requirement was made for implementation of the action plan coordinately by all related departments like woman and child development, health, school education, panchayat and rural development, forests, agriculture, tribal welfare and food and civil supplies department.

Recommendations were also made for special efforts for creating awareness regarding affordable nutrition food available at local level and distribution of ferrous ascorbate tablets to remove anemia in women and adolescent girls.

In the meeting, the Medical Education Department suggested to increase capacity of government hospitals and number of doctors.-Windowtonews
