GIFT plans webinar on Covid-19 induced fiscal crisis

Thiruvananthapuram, April 22 (IANS) The state-owned Gulati Institute of Finance and Taxation (GIFT), here, will organise a two-day webinar, starting Monday. The Finance Ministers and academics from various states are expected to participate.It's being organised under the aegis of Kerala Finance Minister Thomas Issac.The webinar will take up issues, like impact of Covid-19 pandemic on states and the challenges to fiscal federalism in the country. It was an appropriate time for state governments and scholars, committed to fiscal federalism, to reflect on the current situation.GIFT has been named after popular economist I.S. Gulati, who was Issac's teacher at the Centre for Development Studies, here.
