Live gigs help an artiste sustain, says Shirley Setia

Mumbai Nov 24 (IANS) Young singing sensation Shirley Setia who has come up with her new original song "Tu Mil Gaya" loves to balance her time between live performances and making original songs. But it is live stage shows that give her an opportunity to stay connected with her fans and provides financial stability.

A YouTube star with over 1.6 million subscribers Shirley was asked the platform she enjoys more -- digital or live.

The Indo-Kiwi singer told IANS: "I love making new songs but that is not just about my creativity but also a financial investment. When it comes to sustainability live gigs help to sustain an artiste to struggle."

After gaining popularity on a digital platform Shirley released her first original song "Koi Shor" in 2016. The response it generated gave her the confidence to make more original songs.

"When I went to Jaipur for a college show after the song released the whole crowd was singing along. Though the song is not on mainstream radio or films it has reached to the target audience and I think that speaks volumes. Such response boosts me to make more original songs and perform live."

Setia released her latest "Tu Mil Gaya" via a live concert as part of Hungama Spotlight on Wednesday night.

"The song talks about the spontaneity of life. It celebrates the idea of go with the flow and don t over-think much. That should be the spirit of life " said the singer who voiced the song "Disco disco" in the movie "A Gentleman".

She is huge fan of Ed Sheeran who performed in Mumbai last week.
